I believe that every day is an opportunity. It’s a chance to make improvements in our lives, learn more about ourselves, and grow closer to each other. We don’t need to wait for the start of a new year or the beginning of a new season to set goals and make changes. Every day can be used as an opportunity to take control of our lives
When you are in pursuit of living a happier, fulfilled, and meaningful life, it is not always easy to know where to start. Here are the 6 simple things you could do to have more fulfilling life.
1. Start a gratitude journal
It feels so good to recognize all of the things that you have in your life. I recommend using a journal or app where you jot down 5-10 things each day that you are grateful for. It increases happiness and helps you be more present in your life. It’s also fun to look back on old entries and see how much better off your life was then! Practice mindfulness every day, even if it ’s for just 5 minutes.
2. Start a meditation practice
I’m not talking about going on an app or buying a particular kind of meditation cushion or anything like that, but simply focusing on your breath and thoughts without judgment for at least 10 minutes a day will help improve your mood, reduce anxiety and stress levels, reduce cognitive decline, and increase focus. Personally I love this app called Headspace! It’s only $12 per month which is less than a dollar a day which is about as cheap as it gets. It also includes meditation for weight loss, goal setting, and achieving personal excellence.
3. Create boundaries
If you feel like you are becoming overworked or stressed out from juggling too many responsibilities, I recommend creating boundaries to help you balance your life better. For example if your work is super physical and takes up all of your time but doesn’t allow much chance to relax at home because of kids or other responsibilities, use the weekends to rest without any obligations. And don’t let anything distract you to prevent you to do what needs to be done.
4. Give up something smaller
If you feel like you are constantly struggling to make ends meet and can’t seem to find a way to balance your budget, there may be an area in your life that is worth giving up for a while. By giving up things will also give you true appreciation of that thing you are giving up. It can also help you realize that you may not actually need the thing that you are giving up.
5. Establish priorities
You need to identify the most important thing that needs to be done in your day and you need to prioritize to focus on that thing. It could be as simple as calling your parents or friends. Try your hardest not to give into any temptations.
6. Wake up early
Some say waking up early is an advantage and to be aware of this benefit is wise. Waking up early is not a new concept but in today’s world it is becoming a more and more popular notion. One of the main reasons for this is because many people are able to take advantage of their time. This can be anything from getting accomplished tasks done, enjoying time with loved ones or even finding out what the day brings.
