Identify What are you Dissatisfied With

The change doesn’t come if you don’t know what needs to be changed. So to transform your life, you need to dissect and examine your life. Identify which areas you are dissatisfied with. What makes you unhappy exactly? You need to be brutally honest with yourself and this is the key to a good start with the change.

7 Questions That Will Kick Start Your Change in Life

7 Questions That Will Kick Start Your Change in Life
  • How is your mental health?
  • Do you have any hobbies or interests?
  • Are you happy with your relationships?
  • Are you satisfied with where you live?
  • Are you active and happy with your physical health?
  • Do you work? And are you happy with work?
  • What about your finances? Does it need improving?

Hopefully, by answering these questions you can start seeing what needs to be improved or changed in your life.

How do you want it to be?

Without knowing where you are heading, it is extremely difficult to move forward. Lack of direction and vision itself can cause huge stress. To move forward and to make changes in your life, you need to know what that change will look like.

4 Simple Steps to Find Your Vision in Life

4 Simple Steps to Find Your Vision in Life

Identify your strengths and weaknesses

You need to be aware of your strengths and weaknesses. What are you good at and what are the things you need to improve in your life? What are your unique personality traits? Once you set these out clearly, it will give you a good point of start.

Focus on what you want

Remember that this is your life and your vision. What you want in life is all about you. It is not about what others expect from you. So, think about what makes you happy.

Be in love with the process, not the outcome

If you don’t enjoy the process, then it is not for you. Because the process itself makes you accomplish your dreams and your goals.

Don’t get attached to your vision

Be prepared to make changes to your vision. Even, be prepared to let go and change your vision. On your way to changing your life, you will see and discover new opportunities, so you will need to be ready to grab these opportunities.

Start with small simple steps

Change doesn’t have to be big. If we try to make big changes, we get overwhelmed with the amount of work that we have to do.

Start small and tackle one problem at a time. Small simple steps will help you build confidence and momentum to make major changes in life. For example, if you want to become a writer, instead of writing a novel and trying to publish that novel, focus on writing a few sentences per day.

Chose a role model and copy what they did

You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Reach out to people who faced similar problems to yours and overcome those problems. Find out what they did and how they did it. A role model doesn’t have to be someone from your close circle. It could be books, blogs, or podcasts of the people who help to solve problems similar to yours.

Learn how to set goals

Instead of saying “I will lose weight”, your goals should be something like, “I will walk 15 minutes every day for the next two weeks”, once you are happy with that, it could be “No Carbs once a week”. So your goals should be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bound (SMART).

Schedule your day

Use Your Calendar

And use it well. Time block your days. It means to separate your day into 30 minutes or 1-hour blocks. This way you will have a clear idea of what you are supposed to do in each time block. This will help you practice more intentional living.

Schedule Your Priorities First

One of the first things you need to schedule on your calendar is the task that you need to do for your vision.

Schedule Your Leisure Time

This is also very crucial. We forget to have fun times with our family and friends once we caught up with work. But it is also important to put these on your calendar to remind you that it is time to stop and have fun or relax or do absolutely nothing.

Update and Revise Your Schedule

You won’t get your perfect schedule instantly. Make sure to spend some time reviewing your schedule and make necessary changes to fit your lifestyle.

It is OK to miss things

Don’t be too hard on yourself, if you can’t do a certain task on your schedule. This will happen as life happens. Make sure it doesn’t repeat. If it repeats, that means your scheduling needs revising.

  • Be OK with the change. Don’t get too attached to an idea. If something doesn’t work, be prepared to let go. Otherwise, you will get dragged down with it.

  • Don’t multitask. Always focus on one thing at a time.
